Research Interests: Molecular mechanisms of cortical development, the role of metabolism in cell fate

Olivia Fong is an undergraduate at UCLA, majoring in Neuroscience with departmental honors and minoring in Biomedical Research. In the lab, her work builds upon Jose and Jessenya's metabolic atlas by investigating the role of candidate genes that are also associated with developmental disorders. Specifically, her and Jose's work makes use of perturb-sequencing systems introduced into cortical organoids and single cell RNA-sequencing to analyze marker genes. She hopes to further pursue her love of research in a PhD program. Outside of the lab, Olivia enjoys travelling, drawing, cooking, and collecting trinkets.
