About
Research Interests: Cell-cell interactions and cell type specification in GBM
Antoni Andreu Martija obtained his B.S. in Biology with a Minor in Philosophy from Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines in 2014. He completed his M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of the Philippines - Diliman in 2018 in the lab of Dr. Reynaldo Garcia. He then moved to Germany, where he earned a Ph.D. in Biosciences from Heidelberg University under the supervision of Dr. Stefan Pusch and Dr. Andreas von Deimling of the German Cancer Research Center. There, he characterized the oncogenic function of epithelial membrane protein 3 (EMP3) in glioblastoma (GBM) using in vitro disease models, protein-protein interaction studies, and phosphoproteomics. In the Bhaduri lab, Antoni is interested in using human cortical organoids and single-cell methods to investigate how cell-cell interactions shape GBM cell fate trajectories. When not in the lab, Antoni enjoys playing his guitar and piano and spending time with his family.
