About
Research Interests: Understanding how metabolism shapes brain development and how these metabolic mechanisms can inform our understanding of brain tumor growth and treatment response
Taehee Kim is a Ph.D. student in the Molecular Toxicology Interdepartmental Program at UCLA. She received her B.S. in Systems Biotechnology from Konkuk University and her M.S. in Biomedical Science from the University of Ulsan College of Medicine, where she conducted research in the Toxicology-Pathology Laboratory at Asan Medical Center. Before coming to UCLA, she worked as a research scientist at the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, where she studied organoid-based approaches for toxicity testing and contributed to efforts toward the standardization of alternative testing methods. At UCLA, Taehee's research has focused on applying organoid and other physiologically relevant models to translational research. She previously studied therapeutic responses in patient-derived cancer organoids and is now interested in understanding the cellular and metabolic mechanisms underlying brain tumor biology in the Bhaduri Lab. Her current research focuses on how metabolic differences influence glioma cell states and tumor biology using human organoid and genomic approaches.
